FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

I work closely with The Lactation Network which is a company that allows families to connect with insurance- covered care from IBCLCs. To see if your insurance is accepted, please click on The Lactation Network tab in the top menu and complete the simple questions.

What if my insurance is not accepted by TLN or if I choose to not use insurance?

No problem! Once we have completed our consultation, I will send you a comprehensive superbill that is specific to our consultation that you can then use to resubmit to your insurance to seek coverage.

What is an IBCLC and what is the value in this?

An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is the highest level of lactation professional. IBCLCs complete over 90 hours of education and courses, thousands of supervised clinical hours, and pass a rigorous international board exam. This advanced training allows us to support everything from normal breastfeeding questions to complex feeding challenges. The title “Lactation Consultant” is not regulated, and IBCLCs specifically are board-certified medical professionals that are valuable to ensure families receive evidence-based, expert care.

Can you provide maternal and newborn education with consultations?

Yes! That is an element of care that is unique and special to M+M. I am not only an IBCLC, but I also have my Bachelor’s degree of Nursing with over ten years of combined in-patient and out-patient care in various areas of Women’s and Children’s care. My nursing degree allows me to provide evidence-based education, recognize when something is outside of lactation scope, offer general postpartum education, and make appropriate referrals when applicable. Education, guidance, and support using both my nursing experience and IBCLC is extremely valuable for maternal support.
